The new S$1.75 billion Terminal 3 at Changi International Airport in Singapore opened on January 9 after months of intensive preparatory tests and trials. Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Raymond Lim, who represented the Singapore government at the opening events, said: "Its opening marks a significant milestone for Changi Airport as it will increase the total annual capacity to about 70 million passengers, enhancing its position as the regional aviation hub."
The first arrival was Singapore Airlines flight SQ001 from San Francisco at 11:50, and the first departure to London/Heathrow at 12:50. Among the 28 gates, equipped with airbridges, are eight designed to handle the Airbus A380, bringing...
