Primus gets Land Rover business

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Ford Motor Co. subsidiary Primus Financial Services began financing Land Rover retailers in the United States in April. BMW Financial Services had been handling Land Rover's captive finance functions, but Ford bought Land Rover from BMW AG in July 2000. There are 130 Land Rover dealerships in the United States, including 87 exclusive Land Rover Centres. Land Rover North America expects to nearly double its sales volume in 2001 after it adds the Freelander model this fall. U.S. sales were 27,148 in 2000. The company expects to sell about 20,000 Freelanders in the first 12 months.
