Chevrolet on Tuesday, May 1, will start testing an incentive program for the Malibu, called the Owners Option Package. The package is $1,250 cash back on a new Malibu and a $750 card good toward Enterprise Rent-A-Car Co. vehicle rentals for three years.
The Malibu brand team came up with the idea, spokesman Dan Hubbard said. Because the car can't do everything, he said, ``you can rent an Enterprise vehicle when you want to go off-roading or take a huge van on a family vacation.'' The pilot program will start in seven cities and later add up to three cities.
U.S. sales of the Malibu were down 13.6 percent for the first three months of this year, compared with the same period last year.
