DETROIT - Code-Alarm Inc. of Madison Heights, Mich., has signed a deal to provide a remote vehicle control system to Ford Motor Co. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Ford represents the first automaker application of Code-Alarm's PowerCode Technology, a remote system that can be customized via a series of software cartridges to include keyless entry, door unlocking and opening, remote start and remote temperature control. The software cartridges allow the system to be upgraded years after the vehicle is purchased.
As part of the deal, Ford receives an option to buy a minority stake in Code-Alarm over five years.
