DETROIT - Metaldyne Corp. of Plymouth, Mich., has been awarded contracts valued at $2.6 billion to supply components for automakers through 2008.
The contracts include components, including clutch modules, for a new automatic transmission from a North American automaker with projected annual volume of 1 million units; a powder metal forged connecting rod program for a new V-6 engine; powder metal forged connecting rods for an Asian-based automaker's new North American engine program; cast aluminum front-knuckle assemblies for full-sized passenger cars; and front and rear knuckles and hubs for the sport-utility to be produced by a European maker in North America.
