You could say that Rusty Citron's decision to remain a single-franchise dealer has something to do with his family, both past and present.

Citron's grandfather, Brown Fortier, worked for Ford Motor Co. in 1943 in New Orleans. When a dealership became available in Lafayette, he bought it for $10,000.

His son-in-law, Elroy Citron, took over the business as dealer in 1965. When he died in 1995, Rusty became the dealer.

Rusty Citron spent four years after college as a federal bank examiner, but when his father asked him to join the car dealership as the finance and insurance manager in 1972, the son agreed.
