Two new partners will be part of the Toyota Motor Corp. display at this year's Tokyo show: Ericsson, the Swedish mobile-phone company, and truckmaker Scania.
Ericsson Japan, Japanese mobile-phone network provider KDDI Corp. and Hino Motors Ltd. jointly developed the Blue Ribbon City Intelligent Public Mobility.
That is the name of a large urban bus with a boarding- and exit-support system that allows individual passengers to obtain bus stop and fare information and to make stop requests by cellular phone.
Toyota is the second-largest shareholder in KDDI, with 11.7 percent, and owns 50.1 percent of Hino.
Hino has entered into a joint marketing agreement with Scania. A Scania tractor will be on display...
