Scion tCs are recalled for glass fix
WASHINGTON - In the first recall of a Scion-brand vehicle, Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc. is asking owners of about 71,000 Scion tC coupes to return them for repair of the sunroof wind defector.
The affected cars were built for the 2005 and 2006 model years.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration had been investigating complaints about the shattering of wind deflectors, which tilt up when sunroofs are open. The agency said falling glass could injure occupants or distract drivers.
NHTSA says dealers will install a plastic film on the wind deflector to keep glass in place even if it breaks.
