In a move to wring complexity out of its system, Audi of America is reducing drastically the number of options and powertrain combinations offered in the United States.
"We want to offer a limited range of options - mostly packages,'' says Johan de Nysschen, executive vice president in charge of Audi of America Inc.
"We will have a menu offering a set course - cars available in a limited number of trims or options. You want to go a la carte, you wait.''
The move is tied to Audi's efforts to increase profits and make it easier for dealers to order, says de Nysschen. After several years of losses, Audi expects to break even in North America this year, while sibling brand Volkswagen likely will continue to...
