Detroit software provider Compuware Corp. plans to announce a new contract today with GM Shanghai.

The multiyear contract calls for Compuware's Covisint unit to provide software that will allow GM Shanghai and its suppliers to access, track and monitor inventory data.

The contract is an important win for Compuware Covisint because GM Shanghai is a large and growing company and because the cachet of landing GM Shanghai as a customer should lead to additional business, said Bob Paul, COO of Compuware Covisint.
