ProQuest Business Solutions is buying the electronic parts-catalog business of Dealer Computer Services Inc., a Houston-based subsidiary of Universal Computer Systems Inc.

About 2,300 Ford and Lincoln-Mercury dealerships have been using the Dealer Computer Services system, called Computerized Publication Display, to order parts for service bays.

ProQuest Business Solutions says it will update the parts catalog - which contains more than a million part numbers - for Ford and Lincoln-Mercury dealers within days of closing the deal. The deal, announced Aug. 14, is expected to close soon.

Dealer Computer Services has had a contentious relationship with Ford in recent months.
