* General Motors begins building 2007 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups today, Oct. 2, at its truck plant in Oshawa, Ontario. The plant was down last month for a changeover.

* BMW Manufacturing Corp. began building the redesigned 2007 X5 crossover Wednesday, Sept. 27, in Spartanburg, S.C. The BMW Z4, also built there, will do a rolling changeover to the 2007 model this week.

* Honda of America Manufacturing began building the 2007 Honda CR-V crossover Tuesday, Sept. 26, at its plant in East Liberty, Ohio. The Honda Civic and Element also are produced there. The CR-V goes on sale Thursday, Oct. 5.
