Four of the world's largest automotive lighting producers stand to gain as General Motors prepares to end its purchase of headlamps and taillamps from Guide Corp.

They are Automotive Lighting Corp., of Wixom, Mich.; Hella North America Inc., of Plymouth, Mich.; Magna International Inc., of Aurora, Ontario; and Valeo Inc., of Auburn Hills, Mich., according to a source familiar with the discussions.

The group consists of the same players that two years ago won the lighting work for the GMT900 full-sized pickups and SUVs.

Officials at Guide in Pendleton, Ind., this month announced the closings of plants in Anderson, Ind., and Monroe, La.

Shutting the Anderson plant will cost about 1,325 jobs. Production...
