Wholesale prices of used vehicles fell in December from the year-ago month. But those prices were higher than in November 2006, the nation's two largest auto auction companies report.
The average wholesale price of used cars and trucks in December was $9,686, according to ADESA Inc. That was 1.9 percent below the December 2005 average price and 1.0 percent above the average price in November 2006.
Tom Kontos, ADESA's vice president of industry relations and analytical services, said much of the year-over-year decline in wholesale prices resulted from weak retail sales of used vehicles.
U.S. used-vehicle sales dropped 3.6 percent last year to 42.5 million units, says CNW Marketing Research Inc., of Bandon, Ore....
