Siemens VDO says it is flattered by interest in a bid from competitors TRW Automotive Holdings Inc. and Continental AG, but it's sticking with a plan to sell its stock on a public stock exchange.
"While the interest from TRW and Continental is a strong compliment, we're focused on our planned IPO,'' Siemens VDO spokeswoman Bridgette LaRose said last week.
TRW, of Livonia, Mich., is one of the world's 10 largest automotive suppliers.
Blackstone Group, a private equity firm, owns 57 percent of TRW, which posted sales of $13.1 billion in 2006.
Like Continental, TRW shares a common portfolio with Siemens, particularly in the high-growth, high-profit arena of automotive electronics.
