Robert Bosch GmbH is moving to boost its common-rail diesel injection business in India.

The supplier plans to deliver about 100,000 injectors this year from its new plant in Nashik. It expects to increase that to about 3.5 million units in 2010.

The Stuttgart parts maker calculates that diesel's share of the Indian car market will rise from the current 30 percent to more than 40 percent by 2010.

Bosch expects sales of common-rail systems to rise to 1.3 million units by 2010 from about 40,000 last year. There are two to four injectors per system, depending on the number of cylinders in an engine.
