Nissan to make Suzuki pickups
DETROIT - Nissan North America Inc. will build a mid-sized pickup for Suzuki Motor Corp. at Nissan's plant in Smyrna, Tenn., starting in 2008.
The Suzuki model is based on the Nissan Frontier mid-sized pickup, Nissan said. The new truck is the latest product stemming from a 2006 agreement between the automakers to develop vehicles for each other. Nissan also supplies Suzuki with the Serena minivan in Japan.
VWoA to change its name
DETROIT - Volkswagen of America Inc. is changing its name to Volkswagen Group of America Inc. effective Jan. 1.
VW said the new name better reflects the many brands sold by group, including Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini and Volkswagen.
