With shipments of 10,000 units per month, Alpha Four from Alpha Software of Burlington, Mass., is now the third best selling relational database management system in the US. According to the International Data Corp.'s (IDC) 1991 PC Database Management System Software Market Analysis Review and Forecast, 1989-1994, "[Alpha Four] emerged as a surprise player in 1989 and particularly in 1990... [It] more than doubled its unit shipments and revenue in 1990." The company expects to triple shipments in 1991.
