Postalsoft Inc.'s new PostWare Bar program helps First, Second and Third Class mailers achieve US Postal Service discounts for address block barcoding. The software converts numeric 5-digit ZIP Codes and ZIP 4 Codes to barcodes, and then prints barcoded address labels. The program works in conjunction with Postalsoft's mail presorting software, significantly reducing postage costs, the La Crosse, Wis., company says.

For example, a First Class letter mailer can save 5.7 cents per piece when sorting to the 5-digit level and barcoding with PostWare Presort and PostWare Bar.
