IXI Ltd. of Cambridge, England, has announced formation of IXI Japan Ltd. following a joint venture agreement with IXI's long-standing partner, Tomen Electronics Corp. of Japan. Junishi Ishikawa, president of Tomen, has been named president of IXI Japan. To be based in Tokyo, IXI Japan will distribute X.desktop and Deskterm in Japan, Taiwan and Korea.

"With a strong Japanese partner, we have been able to penetrate the notoriously inaccessible Japanese market," says IXI Ltd. managing director and founder Raymond Anderson. He says the company has already licensed X.desktop to nine Japanese OEMs and has Toyota, Fujitsu and NTT as end-user customers. X.desktop has been translated into Japanese.
