Microsoft Begins Mass Production Of Windows NT, To Hit Street In Two Weeks
For the second time in five months Federal Trade Commission officials have deadlocked 2-to-2 over whether to charge Microsoft Corp. with using unfair trade practices to dominate the multi-billion dollar PC software industry.
The four FTC commissioners discussed the issue for hours behind closed doors in Washington. When the late July talks ended a statement was issued saying no decision was reached and no further announcement was forthcoming.
The statement leaves unclear whether the FTC inquiry is over, or whether it will be referred to the Justice Department for further action. What is clear is that even after reportedly "narrowing" the scope of the case against...
