JDA Software Group Inc., the Phoenix, Ariz., provider of enterprise software, came in 4th on The Forbes "200 Best Small Companies in America 1997" list. Of the 22 software firms listed on the Forbes roster, JDA ranked highest in five-year average return on equity (ROE). "We are thrilled to be the only software vendor listed among the elite small businesses in America to focus exclusively on the retail vertical," says JDA CEO Brent Lippman.
