SFP 'may not fit in WTO Green Box'.(European Policy News)(Single Farm Payment)

The European Union may yet have some work to do in convincing its trading partners that its new Single Farm Payment (SFP) scheme should qualify as a 'Green Box' measure in the context of the WTO agreement on agriculture, according to two senior UK academics.

Even though a key rationale for introducing the SFP scheme was that it would make the EU's direct aid payments easier to defend within the WTO, the Green Box compatibility of the scheme as it currently stands could still be liable to challenge in some areas, the academics claim.
