Soy futures contracts closed down this week on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT). Last week prices had been held up by rumors of a worsening in the weather in Argentina.

Agra-FNP has always contradicted this consensus, as the meteorological data went against this information that had come mainly from large fund operators. This week the volume of rainfall recorded in Argentina was so considerable that these rumors completely lost credibility. To illustrate how the market had been manipulated, the numbers from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) curiously showed 57,168 contracts bought and 75,244 lots sold.
