said that its seventh annual marketing survey shows that law firms are "backing away from the language and rituals" of Total Quality Management (TQM). The magazine said that the "negligible increase" of law firms that identify their marketing and client services as TQM, from 32.4% in 1992 to 33.3% last year, is "noteworthy" because law firms have been "besieged" by many sources touting TQM as the wave of the future.

The survey was based on responses from 128 firms.
