In April, CRC Press (Boca Raton, FL) will publish "Investigating Infant Deaths," a new book that is designed to provide tools for continued improvement in investigative techniques related to infant death cases. Targeted to medicolegal death investigators and law enforcement personnel, the title includes a general overview of the field, a definition of the role of the investigator, explains the benefits of "double-teaming" an investigation, emphasizes the importance of timing, and offers advice for examining the incident scene and performing an initial post-mortem external exam.
