Cinema ticketing service signs more deals.

US movie listings and ticketing service AOL MovieFone has agreed strategic partnerships with large-screen cinema firm Imax and Internet retailer CheckOut.com. AOL MovieFone, acquired by Internet Service Provider (ISP) America Online (AOL) (USA; 1/703 448 8700; www.aol.com) in 1999 (see 1999/31b1), will be exclusive ticket seller via telephone and Internet for the six Imax cinemas wholly owned by the company.

AOL MovieFone already sells tickets for Imax screens operated by exhibitors Loews Cineplex Entertainment, Edwards Cinemas and United Artists Theatres. AOL MovieFone struck a similar but more comprehensive arrangement with UATC in November 1999 (see 1999/322). Meanwhile CheckOut.com will receive prominent placement on MovieFone.com and other Websites...
