Research tie-up gives DivX format new kudos.(Brief Article)

DivXNetworks, creators of MPEG-4 based video compression format DivX, has licensed its technology to Europe's largest research institute for use in range of new interactive learning applications. Multi-year agreement is Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics (IDG), specialist in applied research for industry, economy and government. Fraunhofer IDG intends to use DivX as streaming support for its research into 3D virtual environments. Partners will also collaborate on further research projects using DivX.
