The "paperless office" has become the newest buzz word for the accounting profession, and everyone is talking about it. While there is so much focus, and indeed hype, about paperless office solutions, many in the accounting profession have lost sight of the real problems the paperless office solutions are supposed to solve.

By probing this conundrum further, we shall see that today's paperless office solutions are actually only half of the piece of the total puzzle. Until the remaining pieces are put together, the paperless office solution will not produce the complete results we need. We may even discover that a "less-paper office" approach may be a better option than trying to go entirely paperless.
