Financial services experts agree that the widespread implementation of electronic bill presentment will dramatically elevate EBPP volume. For example, Jupiter Media Metrix predicts that the number of U.S. households in which bills are received by mail but paid online will jump to 25.8 million by 2005, compared with 7.7 million today. Even more remarkable, the research firm expects the number of households that receive and pay bills online will skyrocket to more than 40 million in 2005 from less than 3 million this year.
