When Huntington National Bank is scoping out locations for its new branches, the institution is not necessarily looking to saturate a neighborhood with an army of centers. Just being in the best spot in that neighborhood is enough."Each bank may have a different philosophy about where they want to place branches," says Lori Murray, svp of retail distribution and operations for Huntington, which has about 400 branches.

"Other banks may build up to five branches in an area, so they can be in the 'B' or 'C' locations in a neighborhood. But we aren't in the camp that does it that way.
