Quality control enhances benefit plan audits

To help employee benefit plan administrators connect with first-rate auditors, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) recently formed an audit quality center for CPA firms that audit employee benefit plans.

The center aims to bring together firms committed to audit quality, to provide resources for these firms, and to raise awareness about the importance of employee benefit plan audits. "The center will give members the tools they need to adhere to a high standard of quality," comments Susan Coffey, vice president of audit quality and professional ethics for AICPA.

The center "is intended to provide a forum that spurs CPA firms performing audits to make immediate quality improvements to employee benefit plan audits," notes AICPA Chairman S....
