Globalization, enhancements in technology and the expansion of flexible work schedules and telework have scattered many work groups, which raises a new challenge for managers, experts say.
Consulting firm BlessingWhite finds that fewer than one in four managers at global companies work in the same location as their team, straining workplace collegiality and raising other productivity concerns.
"In three-quarters of large organizations, team members are dispersed across different locations and time zones," says Christopher Rice, BlessingWhite president and CEO.
