The Hartford in Hartford, Conn., has promoted Lizabeth Zlatkus to chief financial officer and John Walters to president and chief operating officer of the firm's life operations division.LPL Financial in Boston has hired Christopher Poch as the chief executive of its trust group, The Private Trust Co. Poch had previously been managing director of the wealth management group at Smith Barney in New York City. Next Financial in Houston has named Jay Vinson senior vice president of business development. Vinson spent the past seven years at Mutual Service Corp. in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Pershing Advisor Solutions in Jersey City, N.J., has named Karen Novak COO. Novak has worked at Pershing for 12 years, most recently as managing director and chief operations manager.
