Merrill Attorney Blasts TRO

Calling New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer's temporary restraining order against Merrill Lynch "ill-conceived and inappropriate," Ed Yodowitz, a partner in the law firm of Skadden, Arps, became the sudden star of the SIA's April 9th conference on research analysts and regulation.

Yodowitz regularly represents Merrill Lynch, and despite having been called down to the courthouse on an emergency basis the day before to defend Merrill against the surprise TRO obtained by Spitzer, he managed to keep his commitment to be a speaker on the SIA's panel on litigation issues. There was a palpable buzz in the room when he took his place on the stage.
