For the economy in general and the retail brokerage industry in particular, there are individuals whose words and deeds will affect this year’s business climate. Some of them are pulling companies back from the brink of the shaky credit markets and subprime loan mess. Others are enforcing the securities laws and demanding greater disclosure for certain types of investments. Still others are taking their firms in new directions as the competitive landscape continues to evolve with bigger firms swallowing their smaller counterparts. No matter what the challenge, these are the people who will shape the industry in the next 12 months.
