Don C. Garman joined Morgan Stanley in Pleasanton, Calif. He had been with Merrill Lynch in Freemont, Calif., since 1994, and had commissions over the past 12 months of $1.97.
Smith Barney, Sea Girt, N.J., hired Douglas Ball, formerly of Morgan Stanley in Toms River, N.J. His total assets under management were $200 million and total production, $800,000. Ball spent 27 years with Morgan Stanley, 14 as a branch manager.
