Credit Suisse Trader Is Remembered

Michael Patrick Beier, the courageous Credit Suisse First Boston trader who suffered from ALS and battled it to his last breath, has died at age 39.

"I have vowed to do anything and everything possible to help stop this disease so that my children will never be threatened," he recently said.

Beier, a New Yorker who grew up on Long Island, spent a decade as a director in the equity unit at CS First Boston.

Beier worked at trading even in the last months of his life. He also helped raise money to fight muscular dystrophy.

Beier was a national vice president of the Muscular Dystrophy Association and became actively involved with its "Wings Over Wall Street" project.
