Bill Horning knew when Wrinkles went that it would get bad. It did.

Wrinkles was his Aunt Jane's dog. Aunt Jane was 82. It's a common thing, the start of a spiral; it can come from anything at that age. She loved that dog.

Not one to speak with strangers, always private or even standoffish, Jane became reclusive after she gave up the family place in Minneapolis. Then forgetful. Soon she was in a hospital rest home. "She got very depressed and lonely. She took a fall and went to the hospital. She took another fall," Horning says. "Then she wasn't eating properly and things were getting very bad."
