XCEL FCU CEO James Wisnieski is one of the few people who wishes he had been where he normally would have been on any regular Tuesday morning: his credit union's headquarters located on the 39th floor of the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
This is the second time in less than 10 years that XCEL's staff has survived a terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, having been located on the 14th floor of the North Tower back in 1993 when the WTC's parking garage was bombed. XCEL was formerly called Port Authority of New York and New Jersey FCU, after the owner of the twin towers.
"Having been through this once before, I wish had been there," Wisnieski told The Credit Union Journal. "I was in Albany attending a meeting." Wisnieski has lost family in the attacks....
