Students' Savings Matched

Credit Union Journal, The, November, 2006

Several area credit unions are offering to match up to $250 in savings for high school students under a financial education program launched by the Michigan CU League. Students will be chosen under the league's "Financially Made" program based on a 250-word essay on what they're saving and why. Among the participating CUs are: Michigan State University FCU, Frankenmuth CU, Preferred FCU, Michigan Catholic CU, FinancialEdge Community CU, Monroe County Community CU, Royal Oakland Community CU, CP FCU and Midwest United FCU.

The winning teens will meet with a budget counselor and attend a financial literacy course and will have up to four months to reach their goal, and the CUs will match what they have saved. (c) 2006 The Credit Union Journal and SourceMedia, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
