With Konica Minolta Honda rider Makoto Tamada yet to be confirmed for this weekend's inaugural Chinese Grand Prix - following his wrist injury sustained during qualifying at Estoril - rumours were rife at the Valencia World Superbike round that Ten Kate Honda's Chris Vermeulen could be called up as a replacement.

As a result, Crash.net asked the Dutch based team if such an approach had been made for the services of their Australian superstar - tipped by many as a future factory Honda MotoGP rider: "We have not been approached by the KM-team for the Tamada substitute ride," Vermeulen's team manager Ronald ten Kate told Crash.net.
