Brookspeed win for first time.

James Gornall and Jon Barnes survived tricky conditions at Rockingham to secure their maiden win in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship in the fifth round of the year.

In conditions akin to those that greeted the BTCC earlier in the year, the Team Trimite pairing came home ahead of the Team Modena Lamborghini of Adam Jones and Piers Johnson with CR Scuderia duo James Sutton and Michael Meadows in a distant third.

In pouring rain the 24 car grid set off behind the Safety Car, although the Trackspeed Porsche of David Ashburn joined at the back of the train after pitting on the way to the grid when the bonnet of his car flew up and covered the windscreen. The Trackspeed crew secured the wayward bodywork but Ashburn had lost 15 places straight away.
