CL works on PIAA postseason plans for 2008

Though the start of practice for the 2007 season is only days away, Catholic League football coaches are wisely looking ahead.

In a Monday meeting, they made plans for '08 and the league's first season as a full-blown PIAA member.

The plan, which must be approved by the athletic directors, calls for 12 of the 17 schools (Lansdale Catholic plans to join in September '08) to enjoy postseason action, with only four coming from the league's stronger division, Red.

In PIAAville, everything is based on enrollment, so the CL must crown football champs at the AAAA, AAA and AA levels. That will be a two-pronged deal, with semis on the weekend of Nov. 1 and finals a week later.

The next week will bring District 12 finals in all three classes, as the CL survivors meet their Public League counterparts in classification ...
