A victory over mediocrity?

THE TEMPTATION is to say that last night's 103-100 overtime victory over the San Antonio Spurs will represent some kind of watershed moment for the 76ers.

And maybe it will, but we'll know more tonight when they play the Bulls in Chicago before taking off for the All-Star break.

We've already seen too many false starts by the Sixers - a big victory here followed by a loss or two there.

So really, at this point, one victory, even one over the reigning NBA champions, does not erase 51 games of mediocrity, particularly when the Sixers are still a game below .500.
