Missouri president opens probe of Snyder's exit

The University of Missouri's president ordered an independent investigation into the resignation of basketball coach Quin Snyder yesterday.

Dr. Elson Floyd wants to determine what was conveyed to Snyder and by whom before he resigned on Feb. 10. He made clear school officials were authorized to take their investigation in any direction they felt appropriate.

Snyder announced he was resigning on Feb. 10, a day after saying he would stick it out for the rest of the season. He had 2 years remaining on his contract. Four days later, he agreed to a buyout of more than $500,000.
