UNITED ARTISTS, a studio that's had more lives, owners and asset liquidations than any other in Hollywood is coming back from the dead again - under Paula Wagner and her partner, Katie Holmes' fiance, Tom Cruise. Wagner and Cruise recently ended their deal at Paramount when Paramount patriarch Sumner Redstone decided that sticking with the flaky star would really be "Mission: Impossible." With UA, Wagner (the new CEO) and Cruise become partners in a historic company founded 85 years ago by silent-film greats Douglas Fairbanks, Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford and D.W.
