HE MAY HAVE JUST become the winningest coach in Division I history yesterday with his 880th win, but twice Bob Knight has been passed up for enshrinement in a hall of fame. Which one, you might ask? The Indiana University Hall of Fame, of course. Coaches become eligible for the school's hall 5 years after leaving.
Knight, now running the show at Texas Tech, was fired in 2000 after 29 seasons, 662 wins and three national championships. "For what he's done for Indiana, absolutely he belongs," former player John Laskow-ski told the Associated Press. "I'm not sure what the qualifications are, but he's certainly won enough games."
