11 arrested in meth probe

Pennsylvania Attorney General Tom Corbett and Delaware County authorities announced yesterday that they have shut down a $1.5-million drug ring, dealing a blow to Southeastern Pennsylvania's methamphetamine trade.

The 14-month grand-jury investigation, known as "Operation Zig Zag," led to the arrests of 11 of 16 people believed to be distributing high-grade meth on both sides of the Delaware River.

"This case clearly demonstrates how far and how deep drug organizations can reach into our communities," Corbett said in the basement of the Ridley Township Police building, where bricks of confiscated marijuana filled the small room with a pungent odor.
