Family members of a Strawberry Mansion man convicted of killing an egg deliveryman nearly 30 years ago came out in full force again yesterday for yet another appeals hearing.
They and a codefendant in the case say it wasn't Kevin Brinkley, then 15, who shot to death Charles Haag, nicknamed the "Egg Man," on Dec. 22, 1977, on a Strawberry Mansion street. Instead, they say, it was Brinkley's younger brother, Ronald Brinkley, then 14, who killed Haag, 35, of Pottstown.
When Kevin Brinkley entered the Common Pleas courtroom yesterday, he looked older than his 45 years. He smiled toward the gallery, where about 30 family members sat in support.
